Six Tips on Curing Your Golf Slice

One of the nuisances that is evident when playing golf is the slice, which makes the ball end up in a place you did not intend, and in effect raising your score. One of the ways you can use to bring down your golf score is to eliminate the slice from your game. Below are some tips that can help you up your game:

i)             Check your grip

If you are right-handed, check the line between the forefinger and thumb of your left hand that is gripping the golf stick directly pointing to your eye. More of this are available in their website. At the same time, keep the left thumb in the palm of your right or trailing hand. Another thing to check is to ensure your grip is firm. However, avoid gripping the club too firmly. You need the hands to have fluidity of the release during impact.

ii)            Thumbs up at follow-through

When you grip the shaft of the golf club correctly, the grip will be released on impact of the ball. Moreover, the hands will take a thumbs-up position.

iii)           The leading shoulder should move down

When swinging the golf club, make sure that your front shoulder (or right shoulder for the left-handed golfer) goes down with the swing. If you don't do this, a slice of the ball will be hit from the outside to the inside. More details about this which are moved here are available in the link.

iv)           Set-up correctly

The golf ball should be correctly positioned in a manner in which the face of the club will squarely hit the ball and prevent slice from happening. When you place the ball farther in front of you, you will have to hit it with the club face open or at an arc, which will result in a slice.

v)            Don't hold back on your follow-through

Make sure you don't shorten or stop your follow-through such that the speed and power of your golf swing will reduce. When you allow your follow through to proceed freely, you will have a better balance when taking a swing. More of this are explained at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/news/golf/. With a better balance, you will be able to hit the ball squarely and hence avoid a slice.

vi)           Train your body with golf drills

You should do more than simply reading golf tips. For instance, you should perform the golf drills that you read. When you perform the drills on a regular basis, you will build your cellular memory or motor memory for executing the best golf swings. A lot of reading with no action will not help you improve your game.

Follow the above tips to cure your golf slice.
